Okay, so it’s a little embarrassing that my last post was dated March 26.  I had every intention of documenting my Ironman triathlon training, but I didn’t account for one major obstacle…TIME.  

I have spent a lot of TIME training. I have spent a lot of TIME recovering, stretching, eating and sleeping! 

As I embarked on this training, I knew that I would have to make some sacrifices with regards to TIME. I had already decided that training, family and my work responsibilities would be all I could focus on.  My social time with friends would have to come at the pool, on the bike or during a run.  Casual lunches and other social activities would have to take a back seat.  I was cool with all of that.  But what I didn’t account for was the fatigue I would feel some days and how the daily nap would become so important and critical to my training success.

So, after all of my responsibilities are met each day, there just isn’t enough time or energy to write this blog.  This was something I didn’t anticipate.

Right now I’m sitting at my son’s diving practice with a laptop, hoping to catch up on the last 10 weeks of training.

What has remained constant is the terrible and unpredictable weather.  In late May I was still wearing long sleeves on the bike and my toes were numb on a recent 3-hour ride.  On June 9th, I ran in a torrential downpour in Central Park.  Today, June 12th I still rode with my sun-sleeves and it wasn’t to keep the sun at bay.  Whatever the weather, I’m out there, plugging away, improving my fitness and getting more and more prepared for race day.
